MLNQVN Tiếp Tục Vận Động Dự Luật Nhân Quyền Cho Việt Nam
Ngày hôm nay, 15 tháng 6 năm 2009, Mạng Lưới Nhân Quyền Việt Nam đã gởi đến TNS Jim Webb, Chủ Tịch Tiểu Ban Đông Á và Thái Bình Dương Sự Vụ thuộc Tiểu Ban Ngọi Giao Thượng Nghị Viện Hoa Kỳ, yêu cầu TNS Jim Webb ủng hộ và sớm đưa Dự Luật Nhân Quyền Cho Việt Nam (S. 1159) ra cứu xét và bỏ phiếu chấp thuận (DL S. 1159 do TNS Barbara Boxer tái đệ nạp tại Thương Viện ngày 21 tháng 5 năm 2009 vừa qua. Dear Senator Webb:
We are writing this letter to ask for your support for the Vietnam Human Rights Act (S.1159) re-introduced by Senator Barbara Boxer on May 21, 2009.
Since its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Government of Vietnam has backtracked on its commitment to human rights.
The Vietnamese authorities have increased their control over all print and electronic media, including blocking the Internet access, jamming the signals of some foreign radio stations, such as Radio Free Asia, and have detained and imprisoned individuals who have posted, and distributed democracy-related materials.
Dozens of human rights activists, publishers, journalists, bloggers, independent labor leaders and religious leaders have been arrested and imprisoned for their peaceful advocacy of human rights and democracy, including Father Nguyen Van Ly and human rights lawyers Nguyen Van Dai, Le Thi Cong Nhan and Le Cong Dinh.
The U.S. Congress has passed numerous resolutions condemning human rights abuses in Vietnam, but the Vietnam communists continue to disregard them all.
Dear Senator,
We appreciate what you did for Vietnamese people as a soldier, and we are proud of you. We are looking forward to having you bring the Vietnam Human Rights Act to your Sub-Committee for discussion and vote for it at your earliest convenience.
