Dân Biểu Sanchez kêu gọi Quốc Hội tạo áp lực đến các nhà cung cấp dịch vụ Internet
Lá thư đề xướng bởi Dân Biểu Sanchez nhấn mạnh rằng, “Trong lúc con số người dân Việt Nam biểu lộ quan điểm của họ trên các mạng điện tử và trang blog cá nhân tiếp tục gia tăng, chính quyền Việt Nam đang từng bước siết chặt sự kiểm tra mạng internet đang được thông dụng bởi người dân Việt Nam. Chúng tôi rất là quan tâm đến việc tiếp tục hạn chế mạng điện tử internet và sự gia tăng đàn áp và bắt bớ đối với các nhà dân báo bloggers Việt Nam chỉ v́ họ dùng internet để phản đối các chính sách của nhà cầm quyền Việt Nam một cách ôn ḥa.”
Lá thư kêu gọi Dân Biểu Hạ Viện kư tên ủng hộ và tạo áp lực đến với các nhà cung cấp dịch vụ internet như Microsoft, Yahoo, và Google để bảo vệ các quyền căn bản như tự do ngôn luận, tự do diễn cảm cho mọi người dân Việt Nam.
Chúng tôi kêu gọi quư cử tri Việt Nam hăy liên lạc văn pḥng Dân Biểu đại diện cho quư vị và kêu gọi họ kư tên vào lá thư “Dear Colleague Letter” để tranh đấu cho nhân quyền tại Việt Nam. Chúng tôi chân thành cám ơn quư vị và hy vọng lời kêu gọi của chúng tôi sẽ được quư vị hưởng ứng..

The San Francisco Chronicle recently reported on the growing fear among the Vietnamese people that the Government of Vietnam is creating a Vietnamese version of China’s “Great Firewall”, which is an online censorship program that blocks websites that are critical of the Chinese government. As the number of Vietnamese citizens who express their views on personal blogs and websites continues to grow, the Government of Vietnam is taking steps to further tighten its control over the internet resources available to the Vietnamese people. We are extremely concerned with the ongoing internet restrictions and the increasing number of Vietnamese bloggers who are constantly being harassed and detained for using the internet to peacefully protest against the Government of Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communication recently stated that they were planning to approach major internet service providers including, Yahoo and Google to request their help in policing the internet. We must show support for unrestricted internet access for the people of Vietnam.
Please join the Congressional Caucus on Vietnam in applauding Goggle, Yahoo and Microsoft’s recent decisions to join the Global Network Initiative, a human rights coalition that works to help companies stand up to authoritarian governments such as Vietnam. In addition, it is important that we urge these internet service providers to continue advocating for the freedoms of speech and expression on the internet in Vietnam.
