The 2006 Vietnam Human Rights Award Winners and The 58th International Human Rights Day Celebration
Westminster, CA:
- The Vietnam Human Rights Network (VNHRN) is honored to announce that its
Selection Committee for the 2006 Vietnam Human Rights Award (VNHRA), based on
its procedures and standards, has chosen Mr. Do Nam Hai and Mr.Nguyen
Chinh Ket as
recipients of 2006 VNHRA in recognition of their brave and persistent fight for
human rights in Vietnam. The award presentation ceremony will take place at 2
PM, December 10, 2006 at
Westminster
City Community Center,

Westminster Blvd.,
Westminster CA 92683,
on the occasion of the 58th
International Human Rights Day.
The event will witness the special presence of Mr. Glen E. Howard, President of the Jamestown Foundation, a think tank organization in Washington, DC specialized in research on communist countries, which sponsored famous Soviet dissidents to the United States during the cold war years.
The VNHRA was founded by VNHRN in 2002 and has been awarded annually in recognition of foremost non-violent activities in favor of basic freedoms, human, and civil rights in Vietnam. Since its creation, the VNHRA has been awarded to Most Venerable Thich Quang Do and Reverend Nguyen Van Ly (2002), Journalist Nguyen Vu Binh, Lawyer Le Chi Quang, Doctor Pham Hong Son, and Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan (2003), former Colonel Pham Que Duong and Doctor Nguyen Dan Que (2004), Senior Le Quang Liem, Reverend Phan Van Loi, and Venerable Thich Tue Sy (2005).
