CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

FOR THE 2026 VIETNAM HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD

 

The Vietnam Human Rights Network (VNHRN) is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Vietnam Human Rights Award through September 30, 2026.

Established in 2002, the Vietnam Human Rights Award (VNHRA) is presented annually to individuals and organizations in Vietnam that have made outstanding contributions to the protection and advancement of human rights for the Vietnamese people. The award also provides an opportunity for Vietnamese communities around the world to express their solidarity with and support for those who continue to advocate for fundamental freedoms, human dignity, and justice in Vietnam.

Since its inception, the award has been presented to 64 individuals and 6 organizations in Vietnam.

VNHRN welcomes nominations of deserving candidates from organizations and individuals both within Vietnam and abroad. The results of the selection process will be officially announced in mid-November 2026.

The 2026 award ceremony will be jointly organized by VNHRN and the Human Rights Relief Foundation (HRRF) in Sydney, Australia, in December 2026, in conjunction with International Human Rights Day and the 78th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Nominees must:

• Be individuals or organizations currently active in Vietnam;
• Have a demonstrated record of nonviolent advocacy for human rights in Vietnam;
• Have made contributions that have generated a positive impact both domestically and internationally.

NOMINATION PROCEDURES

• Organizations and individuals may nominate more than one candidate; however, self-nominations will not be considered by the Selection Committee.
• Use of the attached nomination form is encouraged; however, the Selection Committee will also accept nomination letters containing all required information.
• Nomination packages should include supporting materials, such as articles, speeches, reports, publications, or other relevant documents—published or unpublished—related to the nominee and their human rights activities.
